The “Dish” of the Day!

  • News, Whispers, Opinions etc.

  • How World of Warcraft Has Evolved With the Internet

    • By CECILIA D'ANASTASIO

    • “GAMES ARE VERY rapidly solved these days,” says Ion Hazzikostas, the game director of World of Warcraft.

      • To explain, Ian referenced Street Fighter.

      • “You’d have a whole competitive hierarchy in a local arcade, a local videogame store, where there was some character that was perceived as the best or the strongest because some person in the neighborhood was great with them,” he says. But in the next town over, arcade regulars battled with different tricks, different strategies, a different hierarchy of characters. Information was fragmented, localized.

    • “The reality is that almost everybody was playing the game wrong,” “The internet as a whole, the world as a whole, has refined the process of accelerating and socializing information, figuring out problems.” For Hazzikostas

    • “There were no rules. There was no right or wrong way to play. Just you and your pet wolf, as a hunter, trying to make your way in the world and figure things out from there,” says Hazzikostas.

    • After 30 minutes of yelling “LFG SHAMAN LVL 40” before landing in a party, Hazzikostas says, players were “much more likely to be tolerant of each other’s faults. You probably weren’t going to kick your healer who made a mistake from the group, because then you’d be back to spamming chat for 30 more minutes.”

    • “There’s an inverse relationship between friction and the strength of bonds that are formed as a result of that friction or to overcome that friction,” says Hazzikostas.

    • When I asked Hazzikostas what sort of MMORPG he most wanted to exist if he wasn’t working on World of Warcraft, he paused for a second to think. “Something that surprises me, anew with the promise of unexplored spaces,” he said. “One of the biggest things that’s exciting about the concept of an MMO is going into an unexplored, undiscovered world. It’s almost the promise of something that somehow breaks all the rules we were talking about when it comes to how players understand and deconstruct systems.”

    • Battle for Azeroth Aspirant Ensembles Purchased with Marks of Honor in Shadowlands

      • posted by Anshlun on Wowhead

      • In this week's build, Blizzard has added the transmog ensembles for Battle for Azeroth's PvP Aspirants sets to Alpha.

      • These items allow players to acquire the looks from previous PvP season sets and are always added in the expansion after the set was launched.

      • The ensembles for BFA PvP Sets are sold by Marshal Gabriel and Xander Silberman in Boralus and Mugambala respectively.

      • Currently, only the Aspirant sets are available.

Liveblog of the Shadowlands Interview with Ion Hazzikostas and Zoltan

  • Expansion still planned to be released in 2020.

  • it is reported that it will be more difficult to rejoin an abandoned Covenant than Leaving a Covenant

  • The datamined Jailer picture is the actual model of the Jailer.

  • Sylvanas's new Armor is basically her joining a Maw Covenant.

  • We can only equip one Legendary at a time.

  • The Maw raid set is transmog from Legendaries.

  • We won't be able to get it all in 9.0 but over the course of the expansion.

  • And a bummer for many, Blue-eyed Blood Elves are not planned to be character customization, just textures for NPCs

    • which leads some of us to hold out hope that it still may be an option in the future….

    • Simple stuff like this still boggles me, as MMOS go, Warcraft still pales in comparison to other MMOS new and old when it comes to character customizations.

Datamined and shared on WOWhead : Flying Unicorns - Horse Ground Mounts Learn to Fly in Shadowlands

posted 1 day ago by Archimtiros

In the most recent Shadowlands build, all Courser, Nightmare, and Dreamrunner type horse mounts have been changed from ground mounts to flying ones! Most of these horned "unicorn" style mounts are older mounts, obtained from Legion and Battle for Azeroth content, though they include a couple placeholder mounts datamined from Shadowlands; either way it's a welcome change for anyone wishing to take their favorite horse mount to the skies.

Datamined

  • WoW Classic

    • Fixed an issue that caused players to immediately accept a Zul'Gurub instance lockout if they were in a party with a player who defeated Gahz'ranka.

  • May 4, 2020

    • Fixed a bug that prevented players from receiving the correct amount of Cenarion Circle reputation from killing the Abyssal High Council while in a raid.

General Discussion

like in eve online you can set it so people have to pay money to send you mail (to prevent spammers).

I think we should get 10% of the repair cost when people use our repair/tmog mount services

Kypookins

No one messages me in game, 99.999999% of the time. So I even find a scammer message exciting! “Wow, that guy misspelled “Blizzard” in a new and different way!”

I’VE CREATED MY OWN GUILD AT LONG LAST

Aigø <Xcutiøn>

120 Void Elf Warrior

(General Discussion)

I’ve got tired of disbanded guilds, I’ve got tired of guilds moving to the Horde side for a few more Mythic Raid boss kill…

At long last, I’ve created my own guild. A guild that consist of me and my alts and a friend, one 1Level cofounder Human Mage, one 10 Level Human Hunter. A traitor cofounder gnome warlock left the guild soon after creation process but we are good.

Method and Limit shivering in fear because I’ll dethrone them soon enough, you are gonna feel might of the Xcutiøn…

Beer wolf suggested they “ kick all their friends from it, the moment you go away for 90 days they’ll take ownership of your Guild and kick you out!”

Rejuvithorn

Blizzard replied to beer wolf

“Who hurt you!

Gives the little Vulpera a big hug and scruffles their ears

You actually don’t need to do this at all, you can create additional ranks and ensure that no-one but you holds rank 1, 2 or 3 if you are genuinely worried about this.

It’s also a great idea to go to the Blizzard application, SOCIAL tab, press GROUPS+ and create a group for you and your guildies so that you can keep in touch even if you happen to play another game like Overwatch for a bit.

It’ll also allow you to tell members who might be away for a bit of special guild events (Voice coms karaoke night? Gnome raid on hogger?) or tell them that Children’s Week ends in a couple of days and that they should go get their rewards

WOW WAS BETTER WHEN YOU COULD FINISH YOUR CHARACTER

Skeetcannon

22 Zandalari Troll Shaman

When you could log in and just sit out in front of org and just duel.

When you could join a raid on stormwind because there were people who didn’t feel like they needed to rush all the time just to play the game optimally.

Man I miss those days…

My Adventuring in Azeroth!

  • My time in-game.

    • Dusting off my Retail Characters !

    • I really hate the title retail to differentiate between classic and Normal Warcraft. Just a pet peeve of mine, but how else will others know what I am even talking about?

  • I started playing Wow in Wrath and I took a break back in Warlords because I hated the Path Finder Nonsense to unlock flying.

  • I loathed all of the jumping puzzles and nonsense.

  • A game called Ark came out and it dazzled me away from my pathfinder frustrations for a good two years.

  • I returned for a bit in Legion but played if on and off, but just got back into Warcraft when Classic came out. I had an absolute blast playing when it launched but then poof! Everyone left classic and went back to retail.

  • I can understand the appeal of both and find myself playing both at this point.

    • This has the tendency to mucky my immersion waters as I forget sometimes what faction I am playing and roll up into areas I have no business being in.

    • I was happy to see the guilds I was in on Borean Tundra and LighBringert were still around and active!

    • I'm currently focusing on my 120 on Horde Side , my 105 on Lightbringer and my 110 on Emerald Dream in Retail. I love playing with my hunters, they are so much fun!

Azeroth OUt of Game!

I have been enjoying my free month of Audible by listening to the Rise of the Horde by Christie Golden. I had read the book a while back, but love listening to the Voice acting with it. It definitely adds something special to the story.
